What are the PMP Certifications?

PMP stands for Project Management Professional and PMP certifications are the a credential offered by the Project Management Institute after passing thorough an exam PMP certifications are awarded under the following management areas

Project Integration Management this area deals with the project integrations like the right time of initiating the project and appropriately Planning the project ,the certified syllabus also deals with the details of calculations of the right time for the executing the project and efficiently monitoring and controlling the project also enables the person in developing the professional and social responsibilities in the management

The second management are is the project Scope Management this area deals with the knowledge of the scope of the project and factors that limit the work and control on the project to help the manger ensure that all the work of the project is included. And also calculating and generating the set input and a set of output from the project and also establish the requirements of the project like the  tools and techniques used to convert input into output.

The third area is the project time management it provides the tools, techniques and procedures to estimate the time of execution of the project, estimated time of completion of the project.

Next area of the PMP certifications is the project Cost Management this area deals with the calculations of attaining the total cost of the project and trains the individual with the procedures and techniques to minimise the costs.

The next area is the Project Quality Management this deals with the quality measures of the project and provides the latest methods and techniques for improvement, development of the quality and also the ways of checking the quality of the project at required different stages

Project Human Resource Management is the next areas that deals with the management of human resource and ways of calculations the ability of individuals and placing then at the right area of the project and also procurehe best out of the individual abilities.

Next is the Project Communications Management that provides the different measures of the communication and measures to improve it.

Project Risk Management is the next head this area deals with the risk that the project might face and help the project planning stage in providing measures to be prepared for it.

The PMP certifications frame work embodies a project life cycle and syllabus covers five major project management heads that is Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, Closing each part of the project is covered by the syllabus and a certified PMP is hired by many major areas of different industry.According to a survey in December 2005, the PMP certificates  was at fourth place, and among the 10 Hottest Certifications for 2006, and in December 2008, it was at number 7 among the 10 best IT certifications.

The PMP program is the formalCertification of Project Managers. This program is among the highest ranked programs in the management industry and it is designed to ensure the highestprofessional and ethical standards within the community of practicing professionals, these certifications require Eligibility Criteria to be fulfilled to apply and complete the PMP Certification process, the requirements are divided into two categories and the candidates must satisfy all requirements in either one of the two categories.

Category 1: the PMP applying candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in management and must possess at least three years’ experience in project management during the past six years form the date of applying and the experience must include at least 4,500 hours experience in project management process, and the candidate must possess at least 35 hours of formal training in project management.

Category 2: this category is for candidates without a bachelor’s degree or possessing a diploma and at least five years’ experience in project management in past eight years form the date of applying, and must have an experience of  at least 7,500 hours in project management process groups, and the candidate must possess at least 35 hours of training in project management.

The candidate must possess all the required experience and qualification certificatesafter qualifying for any of the above category the candidate needs to pass the PMP Certification Exam. The application formalities of the exam can be done online or with downloadable paper forms

The application formalities are divided into three sections 1.PMP certification examination application form,2. Project Management Education Form, 3. Project Management Experience Verification Form

Firstly the PMP Certification Examination Application Form that consists of three pages that include general information of the candidate like name, address, contact information, educational background.

Secondly the Project Management Education Form that is a one-page form here the candidate need to file the documents of 35 hours in project management training.

Lastly the Project Management Experience Verification Form that is a two-page form to provide the document each of the projects during the experience period. The candidates need to gather information that is required and then summarize project management experience including the name of the project, the companies’ name for which the project was done.

Then the submission process must be completed along with the fees payment and the processing requires 10-15 working days of time for the form to get approved, after the processing formalities are done the candidate receives an eligibility letter after which the candidate can appear for the exam within six months from the date of issue of the eligibility letter.
